What do you know about Melbourne ? If someone would have asked me this question few years back then I wouldn't have had much to answer except a few friends testimonials, who went there to study, that the city has a wonderful life.
As I started my blogging journey, I came across many travel bloggers and learned about many fabulous places in Melbourne which a person can visit. I also followed a blogger who used to post about random places and random people in Melbourne, which gave me a greater insight about the places in the city.
While going through the blogs, I also came to know about a dedicate website, Tourism Victoria website , to help people who want to visit Melbourne and Victoria. From the day I have visited their website, I have become more intrigued about knowing more about the city. I am listing down few of the places which fascinated me -
Philip Island - The place which attracted me the most about Melbourne was Philip Island. Australia is known for its bio-diversity and we find some really unique flora and fauna there which can't be found in any other place. I am an animal lover and this is definitely one of the most attractive place for me. Experience wild life personally would definitely be an amazing experience.
I have never got the chance to see penguins in there natural habitat. It would definitely be a great experience if I get to see them.
Melbourne Cricket ground - I think there can't be any Indian who would want to miss experiencing MCG in person. We are a cricketing nation and we worship our cricketers. We also love all the cricketing facts and stories. Hence it is a must to experience MCG.
St. Kilda Road - This place is the heart of Melbourne's culture. It has national gallery of Victoria and arts centre market.
Flinders quarter - This place contains bars, design stores, writers' studios, galleries and boutique fashion outlet. This is the home foe Melbourne creative elite.
You can also see other "Come Alive in Melbourne" videos.

Great post! After reading your post & watching all the videos, I'd most like to visit the Dandenong Ranges for it's scenic beauty, breathtaking view and cool breeze blowing through my hair. :P I'd give anything away for driving through the winding roads which are present throughout the ranges. I'd love to stay at one of the bed and breakfast cottages and go on frequent excursions in the forests with my camera which provides excellent views. And not to forget the famous ride in the Puffing Billy, a day reserved especially for that. To add to that, there are also several picnic spots for me and my friends to spend a fun-filled day and the ranges are a perfect spot for hiking and cycling.
ReplyDeleteWish you and your blog a happy new year! :D
a great post , with all pics and nicely described about the scenic beauty as well as the must watch of Melbourne, i want to visit the Penguin Parade as these small, aquatic, flightless birds are nature's gift and so rare and so beautiful. They can't be missed . In short it will be heavenly experience
ReplyDeleteWonderful post and interesting videos that make me feel that
ReplyDeleteMelbourne invites the eternal romantic in me to hold hands with my beloved and go see the Twelve Apostles .Go on long drives on the great ocean road. In the middle of nowhere in a vineyard spread a table and enjoy a meal and a glass of wine with my dear one. Enjoy the sunsets holding hands and do lots of shopping at the Queen Victoria Market and see all the graffiti being created at the hosier lane.
Great Post and interesting videos watching them I am sure to visit Sovereign Hill for spending some time in the era gone by. The lure of gold and panning for some nuggets is a temptation that is too much to resist. After I have found the gold I am bound to celebrate it with some wine so I will visit the vineyards and enjoy some great wine from the Yarra region .Visit the Pannys Phillip Island Chocolate Factory and have my fill with this yummy delight.

ReplyDeleteI’d love to wake up next to the ocean…walk on golden sand every morning. ..
I would love to check out the helicopter ride to the 12 Apostles…. and drive on thr great Ocean road in a blue convertible…singing khwabon ke parinde…. a la Zindagi na Milegi Dobara
And wear huge diamonds and take a selfie on the Eureka Skydeck…against the Melbourne Skyline
And chill in the Yarra Valley Vineyards…
what a life that would be.
MCG, the Australian mecca for cricket lovers. I would definitely like to be in Australia when either Indian team or the English team happens to be on tour, the nest time. WIll be a memorable experience to watch the rivalry unfold right in front of my eyes, sitting right in the middle of MCG.

Great post! After reading your post & watching all the videos, I would definitely want to visit all those amazing places when I get to visit Melbourne :) But of all, my top pick would be a visit to Yarra valley for a beautiful sunrise balloon flight. After seeing the video, I can't stop myself from dreaming a romantic magical flight above the scenic vineyards and watching the sunrise from up above! Throw in my favorite wine, I will doubly enjoy the ride sipping my glass and taking sensational selfies all the way :) Now I can't think of a better way of spending a vacation!!
ReplyDeleteNext of course, cruising through the great ocean road in a open-top car to enjoy the coastal scenery and the iconic 12 apostles for the nature's amazing work at play. Then a ride around the city in the vintage trams to enjoy its urban splendor and the legendary puffing billy to enjoy its natural splendor. Finally a day at the hot springs to unwind and totally rejuvenate myself :)
Hi!
ReplyDeleteWe know beauty never need words but without words it cannot be explained and when you get wordless after seeing it... your mouth still get open wide and WOW comes out. Dear! Your explanation about Melbourne is wonderful and picturesque description. I am a person who always attracted to nature first of any place so I would love to see the Melbourne Nature & Wildlife. The 12 Apostles rock formations is world famous rocks which changes its color in sunrise and sun set. And then I will see the Phillip Island Nature Park where I want to see the animals which I hardly see in India. I never saw Penguins, Koala and other animals.
Driving on a smooth road with natural beauty around you, it always gives you a feeling of heaven on Earth. I would love to drive on Great Ocean Road which is also famous in world to give you a scenic experience and the pleasure of that driving is amazing.

Melbourne is a fascinating place and all the places that you have mentioned in your post tantalizes my spirit. I loved the pictures and the videos included in the post.
ReplyDeleteI was in a quandary deciding which place I would love to go the most. After a faint confusion, I realized that out of all the places, Philip Island is the place that I would love to visit first and foremost if I get the opportunity to go to Melbourne.
Watching the Little Penguins returning ashore at sunset would be simply entrancing and magical.Though I have seen penguins earlier but I heard that no where in this world the magical procession of the Little Penguins can be seen apart from Penguin Parade, Philip Island. The Little Penguins are such innocent and beautiful creatures that makes us marvel speechlessly at the prowess of the Creator. I would cherish watching the Little Penguins waddling back to their home in the sand dunes.
I would click plenty of pictures when the penguins would march together to the safety of their homes and perhaps will later pen down a poetry on them. The mere thought of visiting the Philip Island fills me up with adventure and exhilaration.
Thanks for writing such a beautiful post and transcending me to a world of dreams :)
Melbourne is really so amazing that it's tough to chose one place! I would love to visit the Yarra valley with all its delicious wine tastings, rolling hills and natural beauty! Thanks for sharing so many lovely things about Melbourne and helping me virtually travel there :)
ReplyDeleteAmazing Article.
ReplyDeleteIf I get a chance to visit Melbourne then
I would like to spend my time in the Great Otway National Park, because I love watching animals. I would love to take a city tour by travelling on the Tram's of Melbourne. By travelling in tram's I want to explore every nook & corner of Melbourne. Besides this I would love to watch the amazing architectures of Melbourne like Eureka Tower, Royal Exhibition Building, etc. And without enjoying festivals, my journey would be incomplete so I will celebrate Australian Festivals.
And how can I forget The MCG (Melbourne Cricket Ground). As cricket is my favourite sport I would love to watch the Cricket world cup final which will take place at the largest stadium of Australia, that is, MCG.
